The only other recourse you have is take screen shots of crap like this, make sure you get their guild in the screeny and that they were saying their guild does this regularly, then spam it all across these forums. People, most likely, won't even give them the time of day after that. At least, one would hope. This behavior is reprehensible, to say the least.

Finally, A group of 2 warriors, 2 monks, 1 ranger, 1 Necro and 1 Ele invite me (Ele/Mo). I accept since this looks like a balanced party.

Everything starts well. We tear through the first few titans as a good team should. Then one of the warriors dies, and quick. He was being healed fine but kept dieing. When he was ressed, with about 25% health, he would run back into the fray rather than healing, and die again. The whole time cursing the monks.

We ignored him, since everyone else seemed intelligent and experienced. Eventually, after the 10th time we ressed him, we decided not to res him again. He start drawing on the minimap and cursing etc. So we beat the Portal Wraiths easily without him and skip to cut scene. He is alive again. After we beat the undead warrior boss (name omitted for spoilers sake) we caps Hundred Blades and says, "got what i wanted suckers." and then leaves. We are pissed but say oh well, we are close to the end, lets just finish the last bit.

Then all hell breaks loose. The 2 monks refuse to go any further unless they get paid 15plat each. We laughed and said, "yeah right." And they still refused to move. We ignored them and tried to go on with out them and formulate a plan. While we are coming up with a strategy, the two monks run off and pull the baddies towards us. We have to run away because the mobs aggroed us. We cant get our bearings and all die. The monks say that that is how their guild makes money and we either have to deal with them or pay the price. Needless to say, the legitimate people are all pissed. Screen shots are taken and the log is recorded and our leader submits it to Anet.

I really hope they get their accounts banned for that, but I have my doubts. How strict is Anet with events like this? It almost single handedly ruined the game for me. I've dealt with bad PUGs before, but never anything like this, it was simply revolting.
Simply put they are assholes. But just think, if people don't pay it is wasting their time also. By beating the game you aren't really gaining much either...just a cutscene and a trip back to droknar's.

1. At most one warrior: two warriors often go different ways or
fail to setup a single aggregation; never a wa/mo, as they always
"go solo" on you and break the team dynamics.

You might want to find some better warriors...

Unfortunately this isn't the first I'd heard of this. I had a similar setup happen...but with an AoE Fire Elementalist, and a Healing Monk. (Being that I was a Protection/Healing monk) I fixed the problem. They demanded 2 plat each, from each person. I whispered the rest of the party and told them to move aside. I threw up a couple protections, a healing breeze, and went and agroed a group of sparks. They dropped me, then proceeded to drop the offenders, after which, they went back to their patrols. One of the other party members went and resurrected me afterward...and we proceeded on WITHOUT the offenders. Let's just say they were 'more than peeved'.

Don't take crap from the extortionists.

I won't pay any attention unless he has the lines in question implicating their guilds, with names in the screenshots to implicate. Otherwise, this guy could have been the jerk himself, the group and the two in question could have been the normal guys, and you end up hating people and guild for no reason.

^LoL, look like Fantas is trying to save his account from being banned

anyway, As a W/mo, for some reason I dont get as much negative vibe as you guys here, maybe its just me. I'm a crazy tanker, but at the same time I prefer teamwork, I dont like dumb teammates, although this one guy, another warrior monk I went to fissure w/ was basically the dumbest(one of em) Warrior(all class have dumbasses, just warrior is most used class) in which I can see where the negativity is coming from. This guy would aggro by running into a mob well before the eles and monks(where 1 of each left) could recover their mana. As another warrior, I kept telling him "Let me fish/pull them out, I have a longbow!!" and this guy didn't listen till in middle of mission where we almost got owned cause of his dumbassness. He also started attacking the NPC in fissure who give you the 3 griffens to deliver, thinking it was a boss, when everybody specifically stated to clear all surrounding enemies first, he goes and aggro all remaining group, luckily we cleared them out, still I was pissed, he later left earlier and the remaining 5 members managed to save the forgemaster

That's pretty pathetic. For them to do that is just horrible...AN should charge those two to log in .

This business of charging at the end of a mission is horrible. Don't really agree with the no-naming policy...but...I haven't heard there being too many restrictions on the PM system...incase you wish to impart a few names so I can be sure to avoid them in the future .

--

As for the discussion on Warriors...I just don't see what you can base that on. We've all had horrible monks, elementalists, necros, etc. It's how the person plays that class, not the class itself.

Frankly, I'd gladly join a good team consisting of rangers and necromancers. If even 2 of these had a monk secondary, you've got ressurect and emergency heals. Add in a mesmer (to really shut down the casters) and your opponents' will barely touch your health bars. Why bother with healing when you can make sure your opponent doesn't have a chance to deal damage?

Warriors and Monks are seriously overrated, and, often, poorly played. I've got two PUG rules that I live by:

1. At most one warrior: two warriors often go different ways or
fail to setup a single aggregation; never a wa/mo, as they always
"go solo" on you and break the team dynamics.

2. At most 1/4 of the team a healer/protector. Too many monks and
you can't deal enough damage, and also, other people in the team
get lazy since they think the monk will save their hide.

I just did Elona's Reach in a PUG last night with only one warrior and one monk _secondary_ (el/mo, but focusing on fire magic). It consisted of a mesmer, a ranger, a necromancer, two elementalists and a warrior. We owned the mission -- it went very smoothly.

Try doing Underworld with only 1 tank and 1 monk and tell me how it goes.

At later levels 2+ tanks are A MUST. A minotaur in Underworld can kill a non warrior in ... TWO HITS. Thats right, TWO HITS.

Two PRIMARY elementalists are a must there as well in order to deal with the smites and the groups of minotaurs

Saddly as it stands Necros and mesmers have no place in Underworld and fissure. That is a balance issue that Anet has to fix. No matter how good necros and mesmers are to debuf they end up not providing enough Damage or support to make them worth it. An elementalist with wards would be 10x better then a necro to counter melee. An elementalist with maeltrom and meteor shower would be 10x better then a mesmer to counter spellcasters, not to mention that all the Elementalists AOE shreds a group of mobs packed togather in a heartbeat. Tell me how your "balanced" group would survive against 8 sceletal berserkers (lvl 24 melee units that kill non warriors in 4 hits) and 3 sceletal bonds (lvl 24 healer mobs with spell breaker) and about 4 banshees (lvl 20 melee mobs)

without at least 2 monks, 3 W/MO and 2 Eles there is now way in hell u can pull that off.

Necros, mesmers and rangers (in most cases) ARE USELESS in end game maps and im not talking about hells pricible or *lol* Elona's reach *lol* those missions can be done with henchies while being asleep.

Again this is a balance issue that Anet needs to look at

Don't do it.
Actually, I think that's pretty cool.
-Armed escort from Piken to Grendich - 1 plat
-Assistance with Duke's Daughter and Althea's Ashes - 2 plat each or 3 for both

I think it's neat... it's realistic. What we saw in this post however, and also as I've read in another post about a similar situation but with a happy ending, was two people holding the mission hostage. Unfortunately, this is also realistic, but not in such a cool way as selling products and services. I would hope that their guild name could be published online somehow for all to know not to group with these people.

This is wholly tangental, but the best Underworld groups I have ever been in had only one warrior.

I've also been in a sucessful UW group with zero warriors. An Earth Ele makes a fantastic meatshield against Aatxes and Smite Crawlers.

well I guess... but I look at the underworld and fissure as a Bonus area... so I don't know that one should be able to run it solo... I don't know on that one... Its a shame necros can't do more in there? Are you sure you are using the right skill set to do max damage to them? I know my ranger took a while to find a good balance of skills to use in fissure... I'm still playing with build for underworld... I don't survive very long in there... but Fissure I enjoy immensely...

you know what. Im going to start recording the PUG's I get into. just to show you people that its NOT the warriors screwing up your games.

granted there are some idiots out there, but as this thread clearly points out. all the idiots DONT play warriors.

stop hate-bashing the warriors (at least me!)
every class, except mesmer, has idiots. it just seems to people that more warriors are idiots than any other class. This isn't entirely true, it's just that warrior screwups tend to be rather big, and far reaching.

A good ranger is arguably the most vital character for Fissure runs.

You know what's funny. I was playing an Elem and as usual caster gets to hold the item. I ended up getting so many purple armors, it got ridiculous...I just laughed it off and said it's cuz I'm holding the offering.

Heh, I disagree. All classes have their share of idiots. I've come across some idiotic melee mesmers who take tons of damage and expect the monk to divert all healing to them.
